TAMRITAM is a percussion ensemble — inspired by the merging of “Tam-Tam” as djembe, and the Sanskrit word “amritam“ describing the life-giving nectar of immortality — united by the sacred power of rhythm, led by world-class percussionist Patrick Simard.

Through the drum, the ensemble shares rhythms and chants inspired by the oral traditions of West Africa, weaving threads to ancestral cultures across distant lands. TAMRITAM invites you on a journey where rhythm awakens trance, merging heartbeat, breath, and spirit into a living, vibrant, and universal sound.

DJEMBE WORKSHOPS

Through the lineage and traditional rhythms passed on to him from his mentors, Patrick also carries the torch of transmission to share what has been given to him with his community, and across the world.

The workshops consist of developing the sound and vocabulary, rooted in West-African tradition, to connect with one another and the innermost parts of ourselves, by listening and expressing through the drum.

Weekly classes are offered in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, as well as international workshops upon invitation.
